Honeywell Aerospace is a global aviation supplier designing, manufacturing and distributing advanced electronic systems, products and services to commercial, defense and space industries.

The company is looking for an experienced Materials & Processing Engineer who has a strong understanding of materials / processes and proven experience in a broad range of metal joining techniques, including brazing, fusion and electron beam.

Understanding of other special processes as defined by AS9100 is desirable and a background in metallurgy will be looked on as a good foundation for further development.

Based in Yeovil, the applicant will be working as part of a global team and will assist in developing the supply base with respect to special processes, including metal joining, within Europe.

Good interpersonal skills are required in order to assist customers and suppliers whilst maintaining the integrity of the processes.

Responsibilities will include:

 * Design review
 * Deviation acceptance
 * Audit of the supply base for special processes, particularly metal joining
 * Trouble shooting/problem solving/giving advice for the qualified processes
 * There will be opportunities to become involved with design and development of new technologies related to metal joining

Skills/Qualifications:

 * Metallurgy/ Materials Engineering or Materials Science degree preferable
 * Experience of Aerospace metal joining processes (including fusion, electron beam, laser and resistance welding, torch, vacuum and induction brazing) required
 * Familiarity with Aerospace requirements for Nadcap
 * Weld assessor/welder approval qualification or auditor qualification desirable
 * Knowledge, experience or understanding of heat treatment of materials, pyrometry or materials testing a distinct advantage
